Ecotoxicology testing

Caspian Specific Ecotoxicity Procedures (CSEP) for assessing and regulating chemicals used in drilling, production and associated operations using Caspian Sea species were developed in Akvamiljø Caspian, Caspian Environmental Laboratory in 1998.

Since then a large number of toxicity tests have been carried out using different products, chemicals, drilling mud /cuttings, crude oil and dispersants, produced/hydrotest water etc. Design and methods of CSEP follow International guidances.

The acute toxicity tests are carried out in accordance with AmC operational quality assurance system following with the Organisation Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) principles for Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

These include tests with zooplankton; phytoplankton; sediment dwelling crustacea, and fish.
